HOW TO:

1. Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon and pour into a mixing bowl. (Can use a food processor to easy the process but I don't have one of these so am doing it the old fashioned way!) Add the butter and blend until the mix looks like breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar.

2. Lightly beat the egg and golden syrup together, (add to the food processor) or bowl, and pulse until the mixture clumps together. Tip the dough out, knead briefly until smooth, wrap in clingfilm and leave to chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.

3. While the dough is chilling, preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Line two baking trays with greaseproof paper.
(We managed to do about 4-5 trays worth, doing 2 trays at a time.)

4. Roll the dough out to a 0.5cm thickness - or however you like them, on a lightly floured surface. Using the cutest of gingermen cutters, cut out the little men shapes and place them on the baking tray leaving a gap between each one.

5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden brown (all depends on your oven). Leave on the tray for 10 minutes to cool before moving them onto a wire rack for cooling/eating.

6. After they've cooled you have the option of keeping them plain and eating them all in one go (we definitely didn't do that... *suspicious eyes*) or you can decorate them with icing and dress the little men with buttons and eyes!

We had such a fun Sunday afternoon making these, as we'd never made them before we were a little unsure how they would turn out but after mastering the oven temperature we made loads! They were SO delicious as well which was a result.
The perfect accompaniment to any afternoon cup of tea.

I hope you have the BEST time making your very own gingerbread man family, please don't forget to tag me in your pictures if you do. All my social media's can be found on the homepage. It was the best Sunday!
